July 1st to September 30. Spend a day high speed trolling or chumming for bonito, albacore ,mahi-mahi, and bluefin tuna. Barnegat Ridge is only a 15 mile run, only 40 minutes from Barnegat Inlet. Bonita is the targeted species. They are hi-powered 3 to 8 pound fish that scream line off of our 15 to 20 class outfits. They are also delicious. Any way you would prepare tuna, you can also prepare bonita, including sashimi or sushi. The albacore run a little bigger 6 to 15 pounds, fight even harder, but are for sport only, as they are inedible. We start out hi-speed trolling these fish in July and then sometime in August we can also start to mix in anchoring and chumming, which offers the oppurtunity to use even lighter tackle. Quite often, the chum slick can produce visual fish feeding in the slick, it doesn't get any better than that!
